北本みほは時代のドキュメントとしての自己と他者、社会と個人、理論と実践、絵画と絵画ではないもの、作品制作と言語等の関係性を問うことをテーマとしてアート活動を行う。自らは現代の理論的なアートが１００年近く欠如してしまった絵画や写真、ビデオ等を用いた制作（アートメイキング）によって得られる美術史に脈々と流れる芸術的霊感をアートの本流の基本と考え、そのうえでのAntagonismや問いなどの理論を行うことをアートと定義する。素材となる対象に情報と化した巨匠や名画、生まれ育った日本のアミニズムの精神、幼少期の教会体験による西洋哲学やまた作品制作時に現れる詩作をとりいれてる。近年はアートの政治へ影響やパブロ・エルゲラの提唱する新たな教育学、人体の運動にも強い関心を示し活動を行っている。
主な活動に2022年「#Whynot」ポーラ美術館バス停前 箱根 神奈川、主な個展2020年「ゴッホの想念」銀座 東京、2018-2019年「天磐座」札幌市資料館 北海道、「MOTHER」銀座 東京、主なグループ展に、2019年「アクリルガッシュ・ビエンナーレ2018」ターナーギャラリー東京、2017年「アートフェア札幌」クロスホテル札幌 北海道、「零のゼロ」埼玉県立近代美術館 埼玉、「アミューズアートジャム・最終選考」京都文化博物館 京都、など。その他、内田英治監督・映画「地球でたったふたり」絵画提供、映画・テレビ・新聞・ラジオ出演・作品提供など。

Miho Kitamoto's art activities are based on the theme of questioning the relationship between the self and others, society and the individual, theory and practice, painting and non-painting, art-making and language, etc., as documents of the times. He considers the artistic inspiration that flows through the history of art, obtained through art-making using paintings, photographs, and videos, to be the basis of the mainstream of art, which has been lacking in contemporary theoretical art for nearly 100 years. Art is defined as a theory of antagonism and questioning based on this inspiration. He uses as his material objects masters and masterpieces that have become information, the spirit of Aminism in Japan where he was born and raised, Western philosophy from his childhood church experience, and poetry that appears during the creation of his works. In recent years, he has shown a strong interest in the influence of art on politics, the new pedagogy advocated by Pablo El Guerra, and the human body movement.
